What's painted on the card

On the 1909 card, a naked woman kneels at the edge of a pool under a night sky. Above her shines a large eight-pointed star, with seven smaller stars around it. She pours water from two jugs: one into the pool, one onto the dry land, where it runs off in little streams. In a tree behind her, a bird sits and watches. She has nothing to hide and nothing to protect. The scene is quiet and open, the moment after a storm when you can finally breathe.

The Star upright

The Star brings hope back. It often appears after a difficult stretch, when you are tired but starting to feel lighter. Nothing dramatic has to happen. You simply begin to believe again that good things are possible for you.

Look at what the woman does with the water. She gives some to the pool and some to the land, freely and without worry that it will run out. This card asks you to trust that there is enough: enough time, enough love, enough of you. It is a gentle push to be open, to share your gifts, and to stop hiding the parts of yourself you think are too much or not enough.

The Star is also a card of direction. Under a sky this clear, you can see where you want to go. Let a quiet goal or dream guide you, even if the path to it isn't mapped yet.

The Star reversed

Reversed, The Star shows hope running low. You may feel disconnected, flat or unsure that anything will change. Maybe you have given a lot and received little back, and you are tired of trying.

This card still holds light, even upside down. The star hasn't gone out; clouds are covering it. Start small: rest, spend time with people who lift you, do one thing that used to make you feel like yourself. If the low feeling lasts or deepens, please talk to someone you trust or a doctor.

In love

Upright

In love, The Star brings renewed hope. After heartbreak, it signals that you are ready to open up again. In a relationship, it shows tenderness, honesty and a sense that you can be fully yourself together. If you're hoping to meet someone, it favours a gentle, sincere connection with a person who makes you feel at peace.

Reversed

Reversed, past hurt may be making it hard to believe love will work out. Be patient with yourself. Trust tends to return in small steps, not all at once.

How someone feels about you

If you ask how someone feels about you and The Star appears, they see you with warmth and admiration. You may inspire them or make them feel hopeful about the future. Their feelings are gentle and sincere, maybe a little shy. They likely see the best in you, sometimes more clearly than you see it yourself.

Career and work

Upright

At work, The Star is a good sign for recovery after a setback, creative work and long-term goals. Your ideas have value, and this is a time to share them. It may also point to work that feels meaningful, where you can help or inspire others. Keep your bigger vision in sight.

Reversed

Reversed, you may feel uninspired or doubt that your work matters. Reconnect with why you started, or let yourself imagine a new direction.

Money

Upright

With money, The Star suggests things slowly improving after a lean time. Keep your plan gentle and hopeful, and give a little where you can. Generosity and good sense can sit side by side.

Reversed

Reversed, worry about money may be colouring everything. Look at the real numbers; they are often less frightening than the fear.

Yes or no

Leans yes. The Star is a hopeful card. It leans yes, especially for anything connected to healing, a fresh start or a long-held wish.

The card's advice

Let yourself hope again. Share what you have, look up, and follow the quiet light that keeps calling you.

The Star in Starbound's spreads

  • The Crossroads: Your hidden strength

In The Crossroads, The Star as your hidden strength is your ability to keep hoping. Even after setbacks, something in you still believes. That quiet faith may not look powerful, but it is what will carry you through the next stretch.

  • Two Paths: What you truly want

At the heart of Two Paths, The Star reveals that what you really want is peace and a sense of hope, more than a specific result. Choose the path that lets you breathe and feel like yourself, even if it's less impressive on paper.

  • The Path Ahead: Where this is heading

As the outcome in The Path Ahead, The Star shows things heading toward calm and recovery. The hard part is easing. It doesn't promise everything you wanted, but it points to a time when you feel lighter and hopeful again.

Questions about The Star

Is The Star a sign that a wish will come true?

It is often called the wish card, and it is one of the most hopeful cards in the deck. But it shows energy and possibility, not a promise. The Star suggests the conditions are good: you are open, clear and moving toward what you want. Keep taking steps.

What does The Star mean for getting back with an ex?

The Star speaks more about your healing than about the other person. It can show a gentle reconnection if both of you have grown. More often, it says you're ready to feel hopeful about love again, whether that's with them or with someone new.

Why does The Star come after The Tower?

In the order of the deck, The Tower is the shock and The Star is the calm that follows. After something false falls away, you can see the sky again. That's why The Star feels like healing: it is hope that has been through the storm.
